I apologize that it has taken me so long to post lately. It has been a crazy month. First the surgery and then we are still trying to dig out from the landfill that is our new house. We have lived here a month and still haven't unpacked the majority of the boxes.
One of the biggest problems is that we can't find the camera!! That means no cute pictures of me! Since you aren't able to look upon the beauty that is Evan, I thought I would share a video that I stole from another blog. I have watched this video numerous times and still get a kick out it. The best way to watch it is on your mommy's lap, laughing and clapping along with the song. I never knew there were so many beautiful places to visit in this world and now I want to see all of them. Keep an eye out for my homies in Austin!
Seriously, this video is fun and will give you the warm fuzzies. Why can't we just have world peace?? :)

Update on Evan
Mommy/Editor's note:
Evan's surgery that was scheduled for June 25th was canceled and rescheduled for this morning. He had his tubes put in, adenoids removed, and tonsils removed.
The surgery was short, but Evan had a hard time waking up in recovery and ended up crying for an hour or so. He has since relaxed and is in bed asleep, which is where I expect he will remain for the rest of the day. For the next 10 days, he will be pampered with ice cream and other yummy soft comfort foods.
Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers that everyone has sent his way. I know that he will be excited to update you on his progress once he is up and about again.
Have a happy 4th of July!
-Rachel

I forgot to tell you
I totally meant to tell you, but I completely forgot in all the stuff going on around here.
This Wednesday morning, I will be having surgery. I will be having tubes put in my ears, my adinoids removed, and maybe the tonsils taken out also. As minor as this surgery is, Mommy is still a mess and has been stressing. She doesn't like the idea of me going under anesthesia and the knife. I don't like the idea of no food or drink after midnight.
Keep your fingers crossed for me on Wednesday morning. I hope it all turns out ok.
Pray for Mommy Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. I'm no good if I can't have my milk and unfortunately, she will bear the brunt of my grouchy mood...:(

Saturday Morning Fever!!
Mommy is devastated that there are no pictures to go along with this post. We have spent the better half of this wonderful, cloudy, and cool Saturday morning packing boxes and watching TV. Around 11:30am or so, Mommy got tired of the regular Saturday morning kids fare and changed the channel to what we fondly refer to around here as "grown up TV". The choice this morning was "Saturday Night Fever" on VH1. All I can say is:
I love disco.
Mommy and I danced disco style all around the living room and among the scattered boxes for quite a while this morning. She kept saying she wished she had the camera, but couldn't stop laughing and couldn't take her eyes off of me long enough to get it.
John Travolta is my new hero.

Choo Choo
Good thing Mommy put all of her time and energy into throwing me a Wiggles birthday party. Why? Because now I have a new passion and it doesn't involve Wiggles at all. I finally got that out of my system.
Anyway, I would like to share with you my newest true love. Trains. Yes, they are the best. I started out with just a couple of Thomas trains after my birthday, but have quickly learned that almost anything with wheels can be made into a train. Mommy would like for all of you to know how proud she is of me and my railroading talents. Please note the last two railroad cars/motorcycles. It's so great...
And yes, I was the one who put this together. No help from the parents at all!!

And I'm off!
Well, we have officially bought a new house and the countdown to vacate the current pad has begun. Daddy is spending oodles of time at the new house pulling up shag carpet (that is older than both he and mommy) and the asbestos tile underneath it. In the meantime, Mommy and I are trying to pack up the duplex. It's a big job, but I'm a big boy and I can handle it...if I don't accidentally pack myself in a box in the process. If you ever need professional movers/packers, Mommy and I are just what you ordered. Please refer to the following when reviewing my credentials.
Carefully putting fragile material in a box.
Making sure that there is enough room to safely transport said fragile material.
Keeping the moving process FUN!
Wait!! Please don't pack me in a box!!

I'm 2 years old now!!!
Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday extra special, handsome, intelligent, witty, gorgeous, perfect Evan. Happy birthday to me.
As this is being written I am 2 years, 1 hour, and 8 minutes old. It rocks being 2!!! From what I can tell, being 2 comes with many responsibilities including opening tons of presents! I think that I can handle it.
I had my birthday party yesterday. It was a wiggly Wiggle themed party. Since we haven't moved to the new house yet, it was held at the smaller duplex. And because there isn't much room, we only invited family and my babysitter/2nd mommy Lisa. I opened presents, played with balloons, listened to the soundtrack of the Wiggles "Big Red Car", and ate some Wiggly and sugary cake.
Mommy decorated the house the night before the party and when I woke up on Sunday I found balloons and streamers and other goodies in the dining room. When I saw all of that, I knew something big was up and refused to take a nap before the party, fearing I would miss it. That probably wasn't the best idea, because I spent much of my time at the party in a daze. It took me a while to get the hang of opening the presents, but once I woke up, I got it done. After everyone left, I crashed. Mommy and Daddy took that opportunity to open all of my toys and play with them before I could. Cheaters...
Today (my actual birthday), we ate lunch with Daddy's side of the family and went to Grammy's house, where I opened another present. Because I knew that today had to be as big as yesterday, I again refused to nap. As a result, on the way to the windmill museum (winnies!!), I fell asleep in the car. Luckily, the museum isn't open on Mondays, so I didn't miss anything. Life is good.
Since I know you are dying to see pictures, I will share. I would like to mention that in the future, Daddy will not be allowed to photograph family functions. 95% of all the photos taken yesterday came out blurry and not usable. That is unacceptable to me!

Balloons.
And more balloons.

Swim Day
Last Friday, my babysitter, Lisa, had a swim day. Mommy and Daddy were both able to get off of work just in time to see me reject the idea completely. I didn't enjoy the cold pool water that much. What can I say? I'm a jacuzzi kind of man. Anyway, I managed to get myself just wet enough to stand around in the grass, shivering. Mommy finally went home and fetched Daddy's swimsuit, but it didn't help much. Daddy got into the pool and pulled me in with him. I went along with it for a few minutes, then made him take me out. All in all, it was a wet and busy afternoon.
Me and my friend Gavin. As you can see, he is playing with the sprinkler and I am standing a respectable distance away.
Daddy and me in the pool. As I was dragged into the pool, I grabbed another sprinkler and pulled it in with me.
In another futile effort to save myself, I threw someone's crocs into the pool.
Daddy finally gave up on me and played in the sprinkler alone. He's gonna kill me when he sees this picture of himself on the internet!!!

My Winnie Farm
I have decided to use my skills for good, instead of evil. Actually, for VERY, VERY good. I am going to make my front yard into a windmill ("winnie") farm. Thanks to my special friend Vicki who is quickly contributing to my collection of fancy pinwheels. What do think? It's truly maginificent, isn't it?

A trip to Austin
I just got back from a whirlwind trip to Austin. I got to fly on an airplane for the first time too. I hated it.
Whoever invented air travel was sick and demented. The take off was horrible and I started to scream at the beginning of both trips. Finally, Mommy pulled the window shade down and it was a tad better. I made the most of my time on that miserable airplane by taking multiple alternating sips of Mommy and Daddy's beverages and by feeding Daddy peanuts. Towards the end of the trip back to Lubbock, I allowed Mommy to slowly open the window shade so I could try find some winnies from the sky.
While I was in Austin I got to go to the Capitol, to the Lady Bird Johnson wildflower center, to the Rock Rock outlet mall, to see the apartment that I lived in for the first 3 months of life, and to Zilker park. It was a lot of fun and I lived it up to the extreme. However, when I travel, I get disoriented and can get wild and/or cranky easily. Mommy was exhausted by the end of the trip. However, I think that had more to do with the test she had to take for work and her wild curly hair that the humidity caused. Jus between you and me, I hardly recognized Mommy with what I thought was a bad 80's perm. You will notice that there are no pictures of her in this post... Anyway, if you judge a good time by mosquito bites and skinned knees, I had a great time!

A cannon. More importantly, look closely and see if you can read my shirt!

Wow! What a great view!
Whew, I'm exhausted!! Can you see the mosquito bites and skinned knees?

A bicycle built for two
I got Daddy a toddler bike seat for Christmas, with the hope that he would take me away to far lands, but he has hardly used it. As you can tell by looking at him in his funky red sweatpants, he needs a good workout. So, I made him take me riding last week. Here are some pictures from our adventures:
On another subject, I have learned from experience that it is so much fun to wear my bicycle helmet and nothing else. I have done this and then stood in front of the open front door. Fun!
Bye Bye!!

A home of my own
If you are a faithful and aware reader, you might remember that I mentioned a while back that there was something that may change my life forever lurking in the shadows. This will be a good change, I think. It is time for this change to take place. The change is...Mommy's going to have another baby!!!
HAHA! No, no. Just kidding! That would be horrible! Just the thought of sharing the attention with another child makes me shudder.
Actually, the change is that we are going to be moving into our new home in May. Mommy and Daddy took the plunge and have pretty much bought a house. I probably shouldn't be saying anything, because now we will be jinxed and it will all fall through...(Knock on wood!).
This house that we have bought actually belonged to Daddy's grandparents for almost 50 years. Daddy actually grew up across the street from it and spent a huge portion of his adolescence in this house. Obviously, you can tell it's OLD! It was built in the FIFTIES! You know, the olden days... Anyway, the closing date is on May 15th. That gives Mommy and Daddy just barely enough time to pull up the pretty blue and green shag carpeting and maybe paint a few walls before my birthday party on Memorial Day weekend. Here is a picture of my new home:
Did you see the shag carpet and wood paneling? Psychedelic, man!
I guarantee that this house will be looking stylish and new when Mommy and Daddy are done with it.

Tubular!
Just an update...
I went to see Dr. Scolaro, an ENT surgeon, this morning. He looked at my ears and tested my hearing. The results were mixed, but generally positive. My left ear showed that it is hearing normally and had a beautiful curvy line printed on paper showing that. However, my right ear wasn't so curvy. Tests showed that I have some fluid in my right ear and have a harder time hearing as a result. This wasn't too surprising, as the most recent ear infection was in my right ear. Mommy and Dr. Scolaro think that the fluid may be left over from that last infection and have decided to keep an eye on me for the next 6 weeks. If the fluid clears up and I don't have any other ear infections, I won't have to have tubes put my ears. If the opposite happens, then I guess I end up with a couple of extra holes in my head...
In other news, I have discovered the joy of wearing a bicycle helmet and no pants. How liberating!!!

Thrifty Treasures
Yesterday was a great day!! Mommy, Nana, and I went to some garage sales and found some awesome stuff.
This is a winter hat that mommy couldn't pass up for herself. And no, I am not sleepwalking.
Here is a Wiggles guitar that I found at a garage sale. Mommy would like for you to know that no matter how long or hard I play this guitar, the batteries WILL NOT DIE!
After the garage sales, we took a road trip to Plainview and went to the JC Penny outlet. We found many more treasures there.
Including this excellent Wiggles t-shirt!!
Here's the whole package:
ROCK ON!!

Buff Stuff!
Well, the cat is out of the bag. Mommy accidentally found this picture while uploading some others to the computer. While at the babysitter's I have working out on the treadmill. I was hoping to be big and buff as a surprise present for mother's day. I guess that's not gonna happen now. Oh, I still intend to work out daily, but now I'm gonna focus on having rock hard abs for my birthday (which is a little over a month from now, in case you didn't know)!

Oh Dear!
I have learned to say "Oh Dear!" I really don't know what it means, but it's fun to say when pointing under a chair or when opening a door.
I have also started to sing my own version of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". It goes "Winkle Winkle ba ba char" and so on. I always end it with the work dye. I made sure that it's spelled with a y, because I don't want anyone to think that I want the twinkly star to die! What if the twinkly star died? Oh Dear!
I also repeated a bad word yesterday. I won't say what it is, because the last time I said it, Mommy (the REAL offender) became speechless and almost dropped me on the floor in shock. Oh Dear!

It's so beautiful...
WINNIES!!!! I love them!!! They are soooo beautiful! Mommy has asked me to post this blog and ask all of you if you know where to get a toy windmill. Preferably something plastic that won't chop off my fingers. Make sure it is a real cowboy windmill, not one of those sissy Dutch "windmills".
They are just glorious...

The Essence of Evan
I did the cutest thing just now. At least my parents think so. They are such saps... Anyway, as the water was draining from the bathtub, I waved at it and said "Bye-bye". Awwww...I know, just say it. I'm so cute.
In other news, I have another ear infection. That brings the grand total up to approx. 100 since the beginning of the year. I had one a couple of weeks ago in the other ear. Mommy and the nice doctor started talking about ENT's and tubes in my ears this afternoon. That sounds fun!
I have started repeating a lot of words that Mommy and Daddy say. They are going to have to clean up their language according to Daddy. Anyway, as I got ready for my bath, I repeated the word "naked" after Mommy said it. I also like to say boat, hello (hey-oh), windmill ("Win-mie"), drink (dwink), and uh-oh. I am also able to open doors now and I can unlock and open the dishwasher. After the dishwasher is open, I like to stand on the door and reach for things on the counter. I have become very particular about the spoon that I use and will only eat off of one after I have chosen it specifically. I have started driving lessons and really enjoy sitting in the front seat of the Mazda, wearing Mommy's sunglasses and steering the wheel. It's also fun when Mommy gets in the car after I have driven and turns it on. Usually I have arranged it so that the blinkers are blinking, the wipers are wiping, the air conditioner is blowing, and the radio is blaring. Haha...Good times!
Well, I need to go. I have just shoved an entire DVD (case and all) into the VCR and it won't come out. Uh-oh....Here comes Daddy....

Yo Peeps!
My Daddy went to Seattle last week for Uncle Troy and Aunt Harmony's wedding, but before he left he bought a hat to keep his noggin warm. This hat is pretty awesome, because it makes me look tough! You don't wanna be meetin' up wit me in a dark alley anytime soon, yo!
Hee hee, just kidding. I don't think that I am gangsta enough to carry off that kind of talk just yet. Mommy hopes I never can....Go Tech!

Draining headwear
It's no secret that I don't especially like hats. I just feel that they are soooo confining and repressive. And though this hat has more ventilation than usual, it still seems excessively draining... Please see for yourself.

A joke
Here is a joke that Aunt Harmony sent me on the email. I think I want a tea set for my birthday...
One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me and my
brother who is four years older than I am. I was maybe 1 and a half
years old and had just recovered from an accident in which my arm had
been broken among other injuries.
Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a get-well gift and it was
one of my favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in
the evening news and my brother was playing nearby in the living room
when I brought Daddy a little cup of 'tea', which was just water.
After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my
Mom came home. My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me
bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!!'
My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall with a cup
of tea for Daddy and she watches him drink it up, then says, 'Did it
ever occur to you that the only place that baby can reach to get
water is the toilet??'
And sure enough....!!

The prize at the bottom of the box
Mommy told me that part of the fun of eating big boy cereal is digging for the prize at the bottom of the box. Since I have no desire to eat Fruit Loops yet, I thought I would tailor this idea and make it my own.
Coming Soon: A 25 pound prize in EVERY box of Huggies!! The lei pictured may or may not be included.

Today, I am a man
I did some very manly things today.
I wore my big boy undies!
I tamed a bucking bronco! In my undies.
Ahhhh...smell the testosterone!
