Is time on my side?

Is it morning? Is it night? I'm so confused. Daylight savings time started yesterday and I've been thrown off completely! The only thing that makes it all better is driving my toy steering wheel like a maniac. Daddy is concerned that road rage will become an issue and that I will rack up a bunch of speeding tickets...

Ok, well that was a random start to this month's entry. I think that random-ness is the best way to describe this past month. Things here have been different to say the least. Mommy has been gone a lot this month. She was gone for 10 days at the beginning of October and then left again for 5 days at the end. She even missed Halloween!! Oh well, I made up for it by being exceptionally cute.

Mommy made me a doctor costume. I wore it proudly along with a stethoscope around my neck. While I don't think that these scrubs will fit much longer, I fully expect to become a doctor (among other things including an engineer, a computer scientist, and president) someday. Anyway, I made my rounds (get it?) starting at my babysitter's house, then to nana's, then to Elmbrook to see Grandmother and Pa, then to grammy's, and finally to my church. I had a huge pumpkin bucket that was full of candy by the end of the night. I could barely carry it. However, now that Mommy is home, she has made good use of the candy and it is already halfway empty.

I didn't start out as the biggest Halloween fan out there. I still don't care for the scary stuff much. I get very upset and turn my face and cry "no, no, no". At a halloween party that we all went to, I spent much of the first hour clinging to my mommy's shirt. Princesses and Pirates and Pumpkins are all great Halloween costumes. Zombies and Witches are not. Next year, I hope to be big enough to fit into Uncle Matt's old Panda Bear costume. Nana made it for him a quarter of a century ago. It's an antique! Mommy doesn't especially like the thought of that....

I also made my way back to the cornfield maze this year. I got to go through a miny haybale maze, take a hay ride, and go through the actual corn maze. However, for the second year in a row, we only got through part of the corn maze. Mommy didn't like being in the maze in the dark and almost lost it! We finally got out at the halfway point and I managed to calm her down enough to drive us home.

I am currently getting about 4 teeth and have also discovered the gift of gab. My favorite word is "no". I have actually woken up from sleep to tell my mommy and daddy "no". I also like to say "what" and "doggie". I have become quite adept at blowing kisses and giving actual (slobbery) kisses. Men, it is important to know how to kiss a woman properly. The lips should be closed and slobbery and you must make the noise "mmmmmmmuah!" when completing the transaction. I promise, take my advice and you can't go wrong! Finally, I have also discovered that women like it when you aren't afraid to dance in public. I love to do this and I have several potential girlfriends at every place I choose to dance at. This could be the grocery store, the doctor's office, mommy's work, or the post office. It doesn't matter and it's great fun and exercise. I reccommend it!

I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you need suggestions for gifts, I would love some new coloring books and those special markers that only work on paper. By the way, I'm right handed and I love to draw, especially with pen. In library books. I would also like some other books to read and maybe a guitar. I hear that ladies like the guitar.

Everybody, enjoy the holiday season approaching. I am scheduled to have my holiday picture professionally taken in a few days and I promise to send out copies to all of my fans. In the meantime, please visit my photo section and look at all of the cool autumn/Halloween pictures.

Oh! I have to tell you that I noticed the guestbook is looking kind of outdated and bare lately. People, I need to know you love me. Please, leave me some new messages. I would do the same for you!

Buenos noches,

Evan

Summer is the new "fall"

Hey readers!

Well, tomorrow is the first day of Autumn. I have survived another summer. Barely. "What?" you ask. "Why?" Well, let me tell you. My parents are insane. Crazy. Loco.

See, last week I was taking a nap in bed with Mommy. I woke up and wanted down, so I crawled over her and tried to slide off the bed feet first. Apparently, I had her pinned down and her range of motion wasn't what it normally is (more about that later), so she couldn't catch me and help me. I ended up falling off and cutting my eyelid. So, after I felt better, Daddy took me for a walk outside and let me fall down and skin my knee! I don't know what their problems are! They stink!

Anyway, I'm really ok, but it's my job to make them feel guilty about these kinds of things. I'm pretty good at it, no?

It has been a while since I have updated everyone, and I apologize, but there are not many new pictures. It has been a busy month though. First of all, Mommy had reconstructive surgery about 10 days ago, hence her lack of motion range. She is doing well, but isn't supposed to lift me. I make her do it anyway. It's good for her. It helps build upper body strength. She looks pretty and I'm very proud of her. In fact, I'm so proud, I walked in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure this morning! Well, I sat in the stroller and Mommy pushed me, but I still wore a onesie that said "My Mommy is a Survivor" and a pink celebration banner in her honor.

Mommy has also gone and gotten herself a job. Not just any job, but a guardianship job that will take her away from me for about 10 days! She will be going back to my hometown of Austin from Oct. 1-5th and then off to San Antonio Oct. 6-9th. Daddy will be taking care of me while she is gone. If you never hear from me again, you know something happened to me while Mommy was gone. I love all of you.

I also love music. I have started spinning and twirling when music plays. I like to make conductor motions with my hands when my favorite songs come on. I especially like the Addams Family theme song and the Visa debit card commercial music. That's some good stuff! I have also perfected blowing kisses to the ones I love, though I am not necessary generous with them. You must earn my love. Also, I LOVE turning the TV on and off. That is hillarious. Mommy and Daddy get SO freakin' worked up when I do that! I try to wait until a really good spot in the TV show or movie to do it. HAHAHAHAHA!! It still makes me laugh!! Silly couch potatoes... I have developed a love for the phone and have called many an unsuspecting person this past month. Nana, Mommy, and some of Mommy's friends have gotten calls from me when Mommy isn't looking. I'm not discriminating. I'll use either the cell phone or the regular cordless. They are both very cool. If I don't have anyone to call, I just take the phone off of the hook for the heck of it. It's great to watch Mommy and Daddy figure it out 4 hours and 27 minutes later! Basically, I'm a lot smarter than they are. You have to get up pretty early to fool Evan Beggs!

Well, that's all I can think of right now. It's 10:00pm, so I'm going to log off and have a nightcap before I go to bed. I hope everyone has a great Halloween! I will, I'm going to be a doctor! You know there will be lots of beautiful pictures of me in my scrubs next issue. Mark it on your calendar. Approximately November 1st, ok? Ok. Cool.

Peace Out!

I saw fireworks and Mommy's getting old!

Hiya!

Glad to see you again! So much has been going one here, that I am amazed I actually have the time to write!

First and foremost, I feel the need to brag about myself. I am walking like a civilized human being. Mommy says that I get that from her side of the family. Laughing I have almost completely stopped crawling and as a result, I have gotten my first pair of big boy shoes. They are blue sandals and I love to peel back the velcro straps and take them off. I love walking and I plan to start running after those silly kitty cats soon. The other day at the bookstore, Mommy saw a book that described me perfectly: "Monster Toddler"! I took it as a complement.

Speaking of books, I have a favorite one. It is called "Counting Colors". We bought it on our trip to Dallas last month. There is one page/color in particular that is my absolute favorite. Take a gamble and guess what it is in the poll I created below. For the person who knows the right answer, there is an incredible prize: the knowledge that you know my favorite color!! The winner will be so lucky....I can't imagine any better prize. Here's a hint--for those of you that are internet savvy, you can find the answer somewhere in this website.

The 4th of July was a fun, but long holiday. I guess I wasn't aware that the fireworks would start so late! We waited and waited and waited.... finally I got tired and started to cry. Mommy was able to keep me awake until they started, then I put my head on her shoulder and quietly watched. At one point, Mommy thought the fireworks put me to sleep, but I was just mesmerized. Nana thought they would scare me. Ha! I scoff in the face of those things! Mommy, Daddy, Nana, and Papa joined me in the park for a picnic next to the lake and under the trees. A band played music and kids sang onstage. I fully expect to be up there in a few years. Anyway, I practiced walking and did a lot of crawling. Unfortunately, at one point I lost my balance and fell head first into Mommy's plate of potato salad. She said I smelled all night long and the next day, my baby sitter had to give me a bath. I've heard that mayonaise makes your hair soft and glossy, but that was rediculous!

Speaking of hair, I got a major haircut from Aunt Kim. No more curly mullet for me, no sir! It took Mommy quite a while to get used to it, but she likes it ok now. I guess that it's no coincidence that it has also grown out some in the time that it took for her to get used to it...

Mommy finished chemo in July and turned 30 in August, so we had a big party for her. It was fun and I let her be the center of attention for one night. That was one of my presents to her. My other was learning how to say "happy", as in "Happy Birthday". Next year, I'll say birthday too. Happy is a fun word to say and I repeat it to myself all the time as we stroll through the store or while I play with toys. Anyway, at the party, I was able to play some games in the gameroom and visited with lots of my friends and family. I also ate some ice cream and french fries (yum, french fries, my favorite food...).

All in all, it's been a great month! I can't wait to see what the next one will bring. Mommy is scheduled to have reconstructive surgery on September 11th, so things here might get a little stressful again. I'll keep you informed.

Have a great summer (or what's left of it)!

Later,

Evan Beggs

I'm sick, I hit, and I travel too

Hola!

Happy early Independance Day!!! I tell you what, I am so excited for this holiday coming up. I have a red, white, and blue outfit to wear and I hear that there will be food, fireworks, and fun! Most importantly, I'll get to play outside in the park and stay up late that night. Doesn't that sound great?? If you look at the earlier pictures of my life, you will see that I have already celebrated one 4th of July, but last year it rained and I was very sleepy, so I don't remember much happening...I plan to party hearty this time!

It's been a very busy month for me. I'm busily learning to drink from a cup and have also grown another tooth. I have also started hitting mommy and daddy when I don't get my way. It's kinda fun for me, but they don't like it much. Today, Mommy went and bought "What to Expect During the Toddler Years" and told me that it has a whole section on hitting behaviors and how to discipline in it. Something tells me that things are about to change around here...

Surprise, surprise. I was sick a couple of weeks ago. I think that I get sympathy illnesses right around the time that Mommy has her chemo treatments. This time I ran a 102 fever for three days that wouldn't break. I didn't feel real bad and was able to play with my toys for the most part, but I was burning up!!!! Finally, after 3 days, the fever broke and I developed a rash all over my torso. My doctor said it was Roseola. I'm all better now, but Mommy has her last chemo treatment (yay!) in a couple of weeks, so who knows what I'll end up with then (yuck!!)...

Last weekend I went to the great metropolis of DFW and visited family and friends. We got in late Friday night, so not much partying happened then. On Saturday morning, Mommy and I took a bath in the luxurious bathtub at the Westin hotel and as Mommy was drying off, I tinkled all over the bathroom floor. I had to leave my mark in the Big D!! We then got together with her friend Karen and we ate at Pei Wei and went to the Grapvine Mills Mall where I got some new clothes and looked at the crocodile at the Rainforest Cafe. After that, we went swimming in the pool. I don't know if that was fun or not. I do know it was windy!!!! It took me a while to get used to the cold water, but after a while I started splashing and laughing. That night, I went to my former babysitter's house and met her new son, Jayden. He was adopted by them and came to live with them from Guatamala. He was so much fun and I can't wait to see him again soon! On Sunday, I met my Uncle Ken, Aunt Jackie, Cousin Brian, Cousin Michelle and her husband Gary, and Michelle's kids (my other cousins) Emily and Ethan. First we ate breakfast, where I learned to eat mandarin oranges and scrambled eggs. After that, we went to Michelle's house to play. Finally, we hit the road back to Lubbock. Whew!! I had so much fun, but I was worn out. Plus, I was nervous being in a weird city and hotel. I mean Mommy was there, but it was still strange...

OK, well I think that's all for now. It's time for bed. I need to reserve all of my energy for the 4th of July. I want to be a little firecracker too!!

Love,

Evan

PS: I hope you enjoy the picture of me pounding out all of this onto the website. I am a computer genius!!

Chocolate Cake is very very scary

Hello!

This entry marks the beginning of my voyage into the second year of life! Can you believe that I am one year and 8 days old? It seems like I have been doing this website my whole life (hardy har har)!

News Flash! Not only am I a full 53 weeks and one day old, I also have a tiny tooth! I use it to eat french fries, popcorn, and tortillas. I also like to click it on the bottom of my spoons and I like to chew on Mommy's ears when she lets me. When I do that she calls it kissing, but I think that it feels good on my sore gums. Today at Target, I managed to eat a bit of popcorn at the store. What I didn't eat I squealed and threw in the aisles. Mommy didn't like that too much, but I think that buttered popcorn is my new favorite food/toy.

I had a great birthday! The day before, I was given an early present-my tooth! On Saturday, my actual birthday, we spent baking cookies and pulling weeds. At 4:18pm exactly, Mommy and Daddy sang "Happy Birthday" to me. At 4:20pm, I was asleep. turning one is very hard work. From what I hear, Mommy spent the next hour on the phone with Nana, lamenting the fact that I am no longer her baby. That's right; I'm a man!

I had a birthday party on May 27th. There were lots of people there and we had a cookout with hot dogs and hamburgers. Mommy made a special cake, but it scared me some. It was on fire at one point and then people made lots of noise and blew on it. I didn't like that at all. Why would you light a cake on fire and then blow your germs on it? I think that I will email my Auntie Brenda McClendon and ask her sometime soon... Anyway, I didn't want to touch it or eat it so I cried anytime it was pushed toward me. Finally, Daddy made me eat some. It really wasn't so bad, but I haven't gone out of my way to eat anymore of it. I gave the leftovers to Nana. She protects me. I got lots of presents at my party. However, just because my birthday is over, don't let that stop anyone from sending me a belated gift. I know that several people wanted to get me something, but just didn't have time, right???

This month has been a tad more difficult than others. Early on, I caught the stomach flu and gave it to Daddy, Nana, my baby sitter, and even Mommy (who was also recovering from her latest chemo treatment). Then I caught pink eye and gave it to Daddy and Mommy. Then Daddy caught a cough and sore throat and gave it to me, which evolved into an ear infection. Add to that the stress to turning into a little man and sprouting a tooth and you can see that I am extremely exhausted. I am also referred to as the "little germ carrier" now. Mean old Nana...

Well, it's time for bed. I go to bed later now that I am mature. Also, Mommy and Daddy aren't letting me share a bed with them anymore. There have been thunderstorms at night, but they won't come rescue me from my lonely room when I cry. I guess it's a good thing that I am a big, strong, strapping man now. Uh Oh, I hear thunder....

Until next month,

Evan "I finally got a tooth" Beggs

I want trucks, and a baseball set, and books, and bathtub toys, and a football, and real estate, and....

Hi Everyone!

Well, the countdown has begun. As of yesterday (4/26), it less than one month until the biggest day of the year. My first birthday!! A huge party is being planned. It will be held on the exact date, May 26th, at McCullough Park in Lubbock. Daddy will have food on the grill and Mommy will make cake and cookies. I will open presents, pose for pictures, and generally be the center of attention. That's how it should be. Anyone and everyone is invited and there will be no cover charge for the ladies, so gals bring your pretty friends!

This month has been pretty quiet. Last week, I didn't feel too good and ran a high fever for a couple of days. Mommy and Daddy were sure that my teeth were finally coming in, but I am still toothless. The fact that I have no teeth has not stopped me from trying to eat some new foods, including apple slices, tortillas, and crackers. Most of the time I just end up with a lot of food on my shirt, but it's fun to try anyway!

I talk more and more these days. Dada and Nana are word that I say on a daily basis. I only occasionally say Mama, much to her dismay. I said bagel while out shopping the other day. Daddy and Mommy thought it was funny and cute, but I have no idea what I actually meant when I said it. It just sounded good. I also like to blow raspberries at people. It's most fun when Mommy and Daddy are feeding me baby food!

I have learned that when you take a bath and toot in the water, it makes bubbles. That makes me laugh! It makes Mommy roll her eyes.

Not much else is going on here. It's getting warm out and I help daddy pull weeds in the evening. That's about it. Mainly, I just want to remind everyone about my birthday party. McCullough park. May 26th. Bring presents. You will probably want to bring your camera. The media is always offering money to people who have pictures of those who became famous later. I'm going to be famous, accept it.

Well, I will go now. I hope everyone has a good month and that I see you on May 26th at McCullough park. Ok? Put it on your calendar now. Not May 25th. Not May 27th. May 26th.

May 26th.

See you then!

Love,

Evan

I took pictures of the rare and scarce Uncle and the Easter Bunny

April Fools!

Hello all Evan fans! I hope that this edition of my life story finds you well. It has been a busy month for me, as you will be able to see in the photo section. I have met long lost family, travelled to new far away lands, photographed mythical holiday creatures, and (most importantly) I have decided that it is finally the time to crawl in public!

I have heard rumors that it existed.

I have viewed several blurry photographs of it.

And yet, I didn't believe that it could actually end up in Lubbock, TX...

Uncle Troy came to visit me this month. We had a very manly time burping, passing gas, sitting around without shirts, and watching televised sporting events. It was great! Naturally, there were several pictures taken of me (and him), but mommy's didn't turn out very well, so they didn't make it onto the website. Uncle Troy brought his girlfriend, Harmony, with him. She was very cool and held me a lot. Following close on Uncle Troy's heels were Uncle Larry and Aunt Mary Ann from Oregon. None of us knew that they were going to be in town, so we celebrated extra hard with them. A picture of them and me, the party animal, has made it onto this website. It was so neat to get to meet Uncle Larry! He is my Grandpa Beggs' brother and it was awesome to hear stories about that side of the family. Remember, I am partly named after Grandpa Beggs.

Part of Uncle Troy and Harmony's visit included sight-seeing over the vast South Plains. This led to a road trip to Amarillo, where I got to see animals in the Amarillo Zoo. Such great beasts call it home! I saw lions, tigers, and bears (oh my)! I also saw monkeys, horses, longhorns, and birds.

Today, I had a meeting with another legendary animal- The Easter Bunny!!!!!!! That's right, it's almost Easter. I had my picture taken with Sir Bunny at Walgreens this afternoon. Naturally, he was very taken with me, but alas, I finally had to leave him and spread the joy that is me among others. Easter is a very important holiday, as I assume it involves gift receiving of some sort. I have heard a rumor that a large stuffed bunny is just waiting to be given to me, along with other pastel colored toys and candies. No Easter eggs for me this year, though. I am not allowed to eat eggs, as I am too young and mommy just hates them. Don't worry, I'll make up for lost time next year. By then I will be able to walk. Right now I can only crawl.

Yes, that is right. I can crawl. Those of you who are devoted fans of my series already know that I was really able to crawl last month, but had chosen not to share it with family. Since then, I have exposed my talents and quickly succeeded in getting my house "baby-proofed". I wasn't expecting that... The VCR was much more fun to play with before I shared my secret. Anyway, I am getting faster and eventually will catch those pesky kitties. I already play in their water dish when they aren't looking.

Finally, Mommy seems to be doing ok. She is able to pick me up more often and we actually played in the house alone together for the first time today! I love my mommy and I have missed her! Thank you so much for the prayers and good wishes that everyone has sent her way!

Well, I need to go. It is bedtime and I'm ready to dream of easter candy and Vanna White. Be sure to check in again next month for the next exciting edition of "That's My Life!" Evan-style.

Peace Out

Evan!

Things are tough all over, especially the skin on my knees

Happy March Ya'll!

Sorry that it has taken so long for me to update the site. I have had to be the man of the house the past few weeks and Daddy has pretty much taken over as the mommy of the house.

In case there is someone out there who doesn't know, things at home have been pretty scary this past month. On February 12th, Mommy was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. On February 20th, she was admitted to the hospital and had an operation. I didn't see her for awhile, but when she came home, she couldn't hold me or rock me, or feed me. I miss her and she really misses me. We try to talk to each other and sing songs and smile at each other, but I can tell she is sad. Please pray for my mommy and daddy. They asked that you pray for me, but I'm a tough little guy.

Anyway, on a lighter subject, I have tried to stay very busy learning new stuff this month! I know how to crawl! Don't tell mommy or daddy, because I haven't shown them yet. I mostly just rock back and forth on my knees and occasionally go backwards, but I haven't actually shown them that I can do it. I think that it is hillarious when I get them all worked up and excited and then fall on my stomach. They look so disappointed!! Little do they know that I have some major plans once I actually do crawl for them. First, I think that I will rearrange the dining room furniture, then I plan on challenging the cats to a marathon in the hallways!

I have only added a few pictures to the photo gallery this month. Two of them are from my hot tubbing party on Christmas Eve. I have gotten my own swimsuit and gone swimming a couple of times since then. Mommy plans on my getting a full swimming scholarship to an Ivy League University when I am old enough. I probably will. It might be hard narrowing down all of the offers though...

The other picture is me on my rocking horse. I drive him all over the house. I have recently learned how to dismount myself off of him without hurting my face. It's a lot of fun. Mommy and Daddy submitted this picture to the Regis and Kelly show for the most beautiful baby in the world contest, but I didn't make the cut. We figured that the judges must have been drunk or nearsighted, or probably both.

Well, that is all for this month. Hopefully, next month will be better. I will get to meet uncle Troy for the first time in the next couple of weeks, so I'm sure that there will be plenty on manly stories to tell once all is said and done!

Have a Happy St. Patrick's Day! Remember to wear green, 'cause if you don't I will have to pinch you! I'm good at pinching, just ask mommy and daddy (it's fun to pinch and pull his underarm hair!)

Love,

Evan

If I were president, Christmas would be 365 days a year and Rice Cereal would be banned!

Welcome to my website, the after Christmas edition.

I'm little bummed. Since Christmas ended, the whole present thing has kinda slowed down. Why???

I hope that your holidays were good and profitable. Mine were. I was up by 5:30am Christmas morning, which surprised Mommy and Daddy, who went to bed at 1:30 am. They thought that they had a couple of years still before I did something like that. Think again! I gotta keep them on their toes you know. I got all kinds of goodies! I got a Leap Pad, a Dinosaur, some houses and blocks, some books, a pillow, clothes, a TMX Tickle Me Elmo, little trucks, a teddy bear, and a ball popping toy! I try to play with all of them, but for the most part, I just like to put them in my mouth. Plastic tastes good. Cat fur doesn't.

I have a kitty named Tabitha Jones. I have learned that pulling her fur and ears makes her meow and run away. It makes me laugh. When I learn to walk, I plan on following her everywhere. Mommy is worried about the cat box. She thinks that I will eventually try tasting that also, but I'm smarter than she thinks. I've smelled that thing and there's no way that I'm eating that! The only thing worse is probably rice cereal!

I eat baby food now. I especially love apples, pears, and bananas. One of my favorites that Mommy gave me was pre-mixed Oatmeal, Apples, and Bananas in a jar. No more cereal for me!!!! Yep, I won the cereal battle. I don't have to eat that boxed stuff anymore! I'm sure that in a box is the only way cereal is sold... Anyway, I'm getting to be a big boy now!

I was the littlest lamb in the Christmas pageant at church last month! I wore all gray and a hood with ears on it over my head. I was great and everyone came to see my stage debut! I was given a Christmas ornament for my performance. I also went to my first Christmas party. That's actually what it was called- "Baby's First Christmas Party". There are several pictures of the party in the photo section of this website. I had to wear antlers during the party, but that's ok, 'cause I made lots of new baby friends. I got some other ornaments there, as well as a stuffed reindeer, a picture frame, and a stocking. It was a lot of fun, but it wore me out!

Still no teeth for me. I may have to get dentures. Mommy isn't too happy about that, but she says it may be cheaper than getting braces later down the road.

I'm getting over my first cold right now. I have been struggling with it for weeks. I have to do breathing treatments on a regular basis and yesterday the doctor prescribed me some expensive nose spray. It will be nice when I can breathe normally again. Mommy and Daddy laugh 'cause I've been snoring at night.

My babysitter, Rachel, moved away, so Mommy has been watching me in the afternoons. She says that anyone who wants to visit or call can come by anytime, 'cause she misses adult conversation, whatever that is.

Well, that's all for this month. Daddy's birthday is on the 25th, so send him a card. I'm giving him the Evan special- a big gooey, poopy diaper. Make a note of that, because it would be tacky of someone to send him the same thing. I thought of it first!

Love,

Evan Beggs!!!!!
